HUNGRY FOR ADVENTURE

This was my side project in Letterpress this summer, something whimsical and simple. I carved another lino block, I had a few slip ups but overall I am happy at how it turned out!

RELEASE THE KRAKEN

This summer I took a Letterpress class at the School of Visual Concepts in Seattle and it was one of the most exciting things I've done in a while! I learned so many cool techniques and it opened my eyes to a whole new world of design. This is the broadside I made for my main project featuring an octopus because they're awesome! I decided from the beginning to do something lighthearted and silly because its a change of pace from my normal work. Here are a few shots of the finished product and my process.
The process of proofing, from left to right. Getting all of the elements positioned correctly takes more work than you imagine. I did two passes on the press with two different colors so getting the first and second passes lined up was important.
On the left are the two linoleum blocks I carved to make the octopus image. They are super messy because I cleaned the ink off and it gets everywhere! Hand carving linoleum blocks has turned out to be one of my favorite things, you have so much freedom to create and press anything to want with a hand made touch.
My inking station got a little messy...

I didn't plan on not lining up the octopus outline and fill but I decided once I started printing (and lining them up was difficult) that I enjoyed the depth and texture it gave the print.
The finished product! Oh and don't miss the ampersand tentacle :)

SOPHIA WEBSTER FOR JCREW

Few things take my breath away, but Sophia Websters line for J.Crew did the trick. Maybe that's too dramatic, but I'm okay with it. I am absolutely in love with this festive collection. Although most of the line has quickly sold out, I can still appreciate the talent Sophia Webster has in designing beautiful shoes with incredible character.

I have recently recognized her work making the rounds with popular bloggers and celebrities, I certainly think she is a talented designer and has had an incredible start in the fashion world since launching her SS13 line.

This is my favorite from the J.Crew Collection, check out the whole line here.
Also, just a few of my loves from Sophia Websters signature and seasonal work, found at sophiawebster.co.uk

EXPLORE THE NORTHWEST

I have lived in the Pacific Northwest all of my 22 years, and I have absolutely loved it. I have recently had an itch for adventure and travel, but it's not always as simple as just getting on a plane to anywhere. I've decided the best solution is to explore my own backyard. Here are a few panoramas I have taken the last few months that make me extremely grateful for where I live.

3 WAYS TO WEAR IT

I went on a small shopping spree the other day, I've been feeling in a rut and new clothes is the only thing to take me out of it! Anyways, I picked up this perfect Joe's jeans!
I have been on the hunt for a good pair of slightly destroyed light wash jeans, and, as usual, Nordstrom Rack delivered. I decided to show three great ways to wear this style of denim, it is super trendy right now and is so versatile!

BRANDING

A huge focus of mine for this last quarter of my degree is personal branding. I am constantly on Pinterest collecting ideas for how I can market myself and build a business. There are so many cool things to put your logo and information on, I want to do all of them! I need to find a direction and run with it, I am so excited to for when I am able to lay out all of my materials and call it good! Below are some of the branding sets I find inspiring, this website has a great list of them and I pulled most of these images from there!
